Lutz Huelle, Delpozo’s new creative director, presented an arsenal of ladylike separates for fall 2019 RTW. Ruffle trims, pin tucking, and peplum hems were among the feminine touches that gave this collection life. The range of textiles spoke to the prestigious nature of a classy woman- silk georgette, rich wool gabardine, and organza added shape and depth to the designs.
Joie’s fall RTW 2019 collection was a beautiful, solid showing of key coordinates with a mix and match versatility. A warm, inviting earthen color story— terracotta reds, coppers, maize, and ivory— a tried and true brand messaging story. A clay colored pair of leather pants was coordinated with a silk cheetah print jacket that would have been nice had it been made of fur.
A big shout out to Haider Ackermann for giving us his genius designs for men AND women. His fall 2019 RTW show was nothing short of perfection. Lots of trim fit pants and sculpted top coats, it was almost a unisex show.
Can we get a “hell yah” for Hedi Slimane’s fall 2019 Celine show. 59 glorious looks where blonde colored shearling was the star of the show. Oversized chubby coats and shearling over the knee boots, all of it made us long for the cool autumn breeze.
Buttercream and toffee colored shearlings were on the menu for fall 2019 RTW at Isabel Marant. The neutral color pallet also included plenty of black and grey, too. With a nod to Star Wars’ costumes, the looks were utilitarian shapes with wide, square shoulders, buckle closure details, thigh high slouchy leather boots, and a sparkle detail here and there.
Moroccan designer Karim Adduchi’s fall 2019 RTW was an homage to his cultural roots, whether that was his intention or not. Tribal patterns in rustic tones on one side of the spectrum to solid colors in clay and rust on the other, the styles were old fashioned and historic. One standout of the crowd was a lime green gown with high side slit made of a textural fabric. Stunning.
Yves Salomon’s collaboration with André Walker dared you to pick your poison in fur outerwear for fall 2019. It was a generous menagerie of looks, styles, and pelts. A shearling turtle neck or a patchwork fox duster vest might make it tough to choose. Opulent and of the moment, a gold leather jacket with lamb trim was just the kind of thing to feed our need.
Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative force behind the behemoth luxury brand Louis Vuitton, seemed to take anger and frustration out in the form of his fall 2019 RTW. Sharp, ridged tailoring, hefty tweeds and thick leathers, it was all very powerful. Shearling continues to be the fur of choice for fall and a kelly green shearling cape with Vuitton logo lining was a major statement maker.
A black goat hair belted trench coat with no lapels was the finale piece for Susana Clayton, first time designer for the label Joseph. Her debut in Paris for fall 2019 RTW was a tightly edited, clean showing off oversized knits and trousers.
