Not often do we look to our male sect and crown them as DIVAS, or Divos to be politically correct, but country music sensation Trace Adkins with his boisterous personality, swoon-worthy voice, and no-nonesense attitude gets our vote.
No stranger to controversy, perhaps the most endearing thing about Mr. Adkins is that he wears his emotions on his sleeve and is extremely outspoken and forthright in his thoughts. Despite this, or perhaps becaue of this brashness, he is a chart topping, Grammy nominated, multiple CMT and ACM award-winning artist. Honesty, talent and rugged good looks have served this strapping down-home Louisiana boy well and garnered him a tremendous fan base since his debut album in 1996.
A family man at heart, even his 9 year old daughter got the sensational gene best seen when she risked her life to resucue their family dog from a dangerous house fire earlier this year, earning her an award from animal rights group PETA. Fast forward two months and the same group slammed Trace for his recently released “feel good” video for his single, “Just Fishin”, which celebrates the need for spending quality time with loved ones. Doesn’t sound too mean-spirited or inhumane to us!
Humble and self depricating even after the devastating fire that destroyed his Tennessea home in June 2011, the singer turned his pain into an opportunity to push the message of giving by saying, “I have been blessed,” he says. “My kids are OK, my wife is OK. I have my guitar and my songs. Everything else can be replaced.” He went on to say, “Unfortunately, there are families out there who need help if they’re to rebuild after these recent storms. The American Red Cross was one of the first on the scene to help my family and, through their work, others will receive the assistance they need to get back on their feet.”
Trace Adkins is also a strong supporter of Music Cares. In his 2008 appearance on Donald Trump’s reality show The Apprentice, he participated for his pet charity, Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), which raises public awareness, provides advocacy and education, and advances research on behalf of all those affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis.
Trace is “A” okay in our books. We love his tough exterior, incredible talent and alturistic sensibilities and yeah, we love that he loves buying nice furs for his wife Rhonda too. (As he recently did at Pavlis Furs in Arlington Heights, IL just outside Chicago) All of these things, and more, make him a Diva (Divo) We Love.
