There’s something extremely dressy and chic about black furs. Why not embrace the hard-edge look and absorb its fabulous sleekness 24/7? It’s true that a great little black jacket or a full-length coat – or a cape – can add just the right touch of drama and attitude… and bring out a certain sartorial holiness.

Since vampires entered the cinematic repertoire, their look has always remained exotic in its sparse luxuriousness and slight referential Edwardian style – velvet jackets and satin trims, bullion details and tapered men’s clothes are only the tip of this sartorial iceberg. Of course, now with the runway make-up, it feels a little more Weimar Republic… always a little more perverse.

For anyone with a taste for “Goth style,” this trend might simply be a saving grace. Whereas Goth often appears less than cheerful, the ‘vampire-ish’ version brings out a sleeker, more upbeat alternative to the look.
