Move over Rosie, there is another Chub Club in town. The fashion world is indeed pulling-in its own weight by reintroducing the one and only Chubby! Yes, the chubby is that fluffy long fur jacket (or short coat depending how you see it) made famous back in the 1970s by Yves Saint Laurent… and everybody else for that matter.
This fur fashion is having a full-blown renaissance and is fast becoming a must-have favorite with the fashionable set. It is understandable why this particular garment is so popular again: In an age where comfort is key, the chubby combines warmth with luxurious coziness.
Wearing a chubby has its perks, too. Of course its apparent bulk makes a statement, but its proportions make legs look longer, which in turn complements the current cult for legwear and extraordinary footwear. It also pulls focus toward the face, and enhances in the process its dynamic relationship with the wearer.
The chubby’s only apparent drawback is its name. Seriously, how did that name come about? The irony of the word isn’t lost on the fashion world, which so often turns its nose at natural sizes. I guess for all those lettuce-eating twigs, it might be an acceptable philosophical compromise? Regardless of the name, this coat is so “it”!
Which chubby style is for you? …
