They say that change is good, and the changes that pre-fall has brought to the retail fashion cycle proves this to be true. These pre-Fall 2014 collections are redefining the relative importance of the “in-between” collections with an abundance of looks that easily compete with the best of their “full season” counterparts. These transitional seasonal looks are speaking volumes and answering a need for more seasonally ambiguous items.
Part 3 | Pre-Fall 2014 Highlights
Leather, as it turns out, is returning to the forefront minus its “dubious” social stigma (no need for a chaperone while wearing the new looks). Today’s leather is not of the rugged, bohemian variety… leather is manifesting itself as an exclusive luxury material for daywear. Don’t think ultra-heavy cowhide, we’re dealing with satin-thin and butter-soft leathers competing effortlessly with the best materials around.
What we really love about this leather trend is that it often goes in tandem with shearling details and thin furs like the ever-so-chic pony. The looks are easy and relaxed –not necessarily casual– and transition comfortably from day to early evening.
We expect to see more creative adaptations in leather and fur for the Fall 2014/Winter 2015 collections and the following set of collections. This on is a keeper!
