Leave it to Miuccia Prada to redefine “the pleasure of fashion.” Her fall 2012 collection was an exercise in discovering what makes us tick, what gets us excited about fashion. Of course Prada being Prada, there were more than a few twists and surprises to whet our fashion appetites [RUNWAY FASHION VIDEO HERE!].
Case in point, her bold embroideries! Who else would stack up such baubles onto lapels and hems? Prada is directional after all; the label must surprise in order to maintain its fashion edge season after season.

Aside from the embellishments and decorations, the collection is rather clean in its lines and proportions. The colors were also kept uniform as head-to-toe ensembles. There were plenty of references to the 1990s – the decade that put Prada on the global stage. For those who were there the first time around, the designs of Marc Audibet still read.
The luxe touch, or should we more clearly say the ultra-luxe touch, comes with the broadtail looks. Seriously, who would treat such rich and expensive material as if it were a mere moiré textile? These looks carry a story, and enough historical references to make the most jaded fashion editor blush. Yes, she dared and she succeeded.
Of course, because Prada began as a leather goods company, the accessories don’t take second place. This season she carried the excesses from her line-up into hand-held marvels. The fur handbag is indeed the accessory of 2012-2013.
