For any Diesel fan, Diesel Black Gold offers the new level in style. The looks are designed to make a statement, to stand the test of time, and of course to complement the Diesel lifestyle. The pieces show a conscious attempt to make an impact on the market through good design savvy. The leather items are impeccable, so are the few white cotton pieces, but it is the shearlings that peaked our attention.

Edun is about a year strong now and is raising the creative bar this season. Asymmetry and volume drastically influenced this collection with jungle-themed prints (which are more urban than flora), and a few cyber notes. The strong outerwear held its own and wisely complemented the daywear pieces.

Marc Jacobs might be diagnosed with multiple personalities. How does he juggle Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs, making each one so different from the other? Marc by Marc Jacobs was a lovely line-up of looks that embraced polite city dressing with a little Hansel and Gretel quality. The few color touches, especially the red notes, gave this slightly Euro nod a fun twist. His bold use of fur provided dramatic signature looks.

The Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti woman is a no-nonsense, modern individual who embraces her style with simplicity. This collection took that note to another level, with a somewhat precise and clinical look. Fur was used effectively to add softness and richness to the looks. The scientific references read more closely with a few details of PVC belts accessorizing suit jackets and clear overcoats covering wool and fur coats alike. Will this clear overcoat be the new “must-have” for all furs? Ms. Ferretti took risks with this collection and delivered a beautiful line-up.

Was it a coincidence that Thakoon referenced the Hoerengracht neighborhood, aka: the red-light district in Amsterdam, for Valentine’s Day? Unlikely, but a few editors liked the parallel. His collection embraced red in many tonalities, including fuchsia and raspberry, beautifully worked into prints and layered looks. The collection’s edge, not at all naughty, was more reflective of the elegant bourgeoisie who took a shortcut through the district. The dyed Mongolian lamb details looked great and will help keep this fur type fresh and relevant for a greater audience.
