In New York, Ralph Rucci is a king. His collections are as beautiful as they are precious. His workmanship is unparalleled and his trademark style is unique, and he is often referred to as America’s haute couture designer.
He is the only designer in the United States that has a distinctive trademark look. This is extremely rare - Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Sonia Rykiel are the only other designers that similarly come to mind.
His strong Anglo-Saxon designs usually have a recurring Asian sensibility that keeps the lines clean, yet allows volume to play with their minimal proportions. This season, he maintained his vocabulary but decided to energize it with vivid colors and some prints. Why shouldn’t we expect this from a true creative genius?
As usual, Ralph Rucci chose some of the world’s more precious materials for his latest collection. His intellectual material play doesn’t go unnoticed either. Scarlet rinsed chinchillas and sables in tailored coats or on traditional cashmere shawls are not simply breathtakingly beautiful, they are an ode to the clients who choose to wear them.
