The men’s collections in Milan have come and gone… now hitting Paris, soon New York. Yes, my friends, the boys have taken over the catwalks, strutting their stuff for all to see.  And the buzz all around is that fashion has come back to menswear!

With Menswear one should never expect anything too earth shattering.    Menswear tends towards the safe, commercial and practical.  Think of it as wardrobe classics!   But, like with anything else, thankfully there are exceptions.

Here are a  few interesting  trends emerging from the Italian fashion capital. When it comes to fur based fashions, treatments and accessories are injecting freshness.  The interesting universal take this season is the more “fashionable” angle — one, following the preexisting trends present in womenswear.

With this round of fashion pageantry, shearlings are the ‘must have’ sartorial items for our peacocks.

Here are a few takes on classic shearlings gone wild: coats, jackets, vests and collars are embracing masculinity and unabashedly affirming their fashion stance.  Garments can be left ‘sueded’ à la 1970s, or fully finished and glossed like a leather jacket; the shearling side left in or out of the garment.

What is great about menswear, is that designers know men like to “buy long-term”, so many of these pieces will age gracefully over a few years and take a gentle beating. Like a nice mug, a few lines show character.
